Suggest Treatment For RSD And CRPS

Alright, I have had RSD/Crps type 1 For twenty plus years from a military accident. I have also been in two MVA resulting in 48 screws, 6 plates, and several spinal fusions and honestly, I am Very Tired of dealing with the eternal pain. I have gone before congressional liasions for the new comerers, so they may have a chance, but I suffer in silence....funny thing I I wanted to finish my education , with a PA in Pain. I am ok with my meds for about 10 days and then I go into a black-hole. No one can reach me. The US Dept. of Veteran Affairs R & D department has a live one here. So, Any of you 143 Physicians have any ideas cause I have read most of your books and when it comes to RSD I am not afraid to challenged you openly. You read or wrote it, I did it. If you will make sense and guide me in a positive way. I will pay, gladly. Outside of that I am not paying, Sorry!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

So, I do have some personal experience with this here, my wife after an accident has CRPS as well and it is a real battle. I can tell you that she had similar issues with intermittent periods of relapse occurring at least once monthly. What has helped the most with her has been both the insertion of a SPINAL CORD STIMULATOR, which I think personally reduced here pain a good 50% and the addition of intra-nasal Ketamine.

The Ketamine in truth has made a world of difference. Now not many pain clinics will do this but if you can find one that provides this it is very helpful. Otherwise, oral pain regimens are only moderately helpful with CRPS as you know, so these options can usually help a great deal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. David J. Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
