Suggest Treatment For Raynaud S Syndrome After Taking Vyvanse

Hello, we have a 16yo daughter that is ADHD. She took Concerta (when first diagnosed at about age 9) up until age 14, when her pediatrician switched her over to Vyvanse. She was recently diagnosed with Raynauds syndrome. When we asked her pediatrician if the Vyvanse possibly was the cause, he flatly told us absolutely not, vyvanse does NOT cause Raynauds, and that for us to come to that conclusion was idiotic and we were trying to doctor our daughter by what we were reading on the internet. We did not go to crack websites- we researched this very carefully through the FDA and even the Vyvanse websites, who both very clearly state that Raynauds is indeed a side effect of vyvanse use, especially in teen girls aged 10-19 who have been taking the drug for at least a year. What do we do? Our trusted pediatrician basically shot us down and called us idiots for asking about a documented, well known side effect of a medication that he was prescribing.

Hello,

Your 16 year old daughter is suffering from Raynaud's syndrome after she was on Vyvanse for a long period. She is suffering from adverse effect of Vyvanse. She also has history of ADHD. You can talk to the treating doctor so that she can be put on medicine that suits her better. To treat Raynaud's syndrome, any medicine that aggravates blood vessel spasm should not be given. The fingers and toes should be protected from extreme cold & also from injuries.

Keep your daughter away from direct or indirect smoking. Keep her away from direct exposure to fumes, smoke, chemical, fog, etc., as it may increase the chance of occlusion of the blood vessels. Alternate therapy of cold and warm stands are given by some Physical therapists. Give comfortable pair of footwear so that there is no chance of the compression of the blood vessels. Treatments include lifestyle changes like avoiding cold temperatures, dressing for the cold in layers and wearing gloves or heavy socks will help in mild cases.

Keep your daughter warm and her make sure that her blood glucose level 7 blood pressure is always normal. She should avoid food like carbonated drinks, junk food, heavy meals that are difficult to digest. She should avoid taking refrigerated food and also frozen food as it may cause sluggish digestion. She should avoid taking full fat dairy milk & curd. Help her stay away from addictions if any.

She should take light meals and easily digestible foods like green gram, soups, freshly cooked and warm food processed with cumin seeds, ginger and black pepper. She should maintain her sleep timing and should not skip meals, she should avoid emotional stress and physical stress. She should do moderate exercise to promote a healthy lifestyle and avoid medicines and substances that trigger the symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
