Hello, I was diagnosed with Sjogren Disease. I wanted to find out what type of eye drops work the best. When I use Refresh gel plus my eyes feel heavy. I have chronic dry eyes. Sometimes I use the eye ointment and it feels better. I am wanting to try castor oil. do you think it is wise. I am using restasis and doxycycline.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You may need to use artificial tears for long even life long as sjogrens can cause extremely scarce tears and dryness can lead to complications like corneal ulcers etc so any for of artificial tears is helpful. Castor oil in eyes should better be avoided as can cause allergic reaction instead.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
