Suggest Treatment For UTI And Bacterial Infection

My 89 year old mother is in the hospital with a urinary tract infection, the bacteria is MRSA. She is on Vancomycin IV. How dangerous is this infection. She recently had a right hip hemiarthroplasty. Should we be concerned about the surgical site? She is not having any pain at all.

She is on a recommended antibiotic for the treatment of MRSA. The main danger of MRSA is that it is resistant to a lot of antibiotics and often hard to treat. Presumably since they know it is MRSA they have tested its susceptibility to antibiotics and know the correct one to use. MRSA is a form of Staph aureus that can be quite virulent. Hopefully she got started on the antibiotics promptly before the infection spread anywhere else. It is reassuring that she is not having any pain. Hope this answers your query.
