Suggest Treatment For UTI And Vaginal Infection
Hi Doc, I have been on implanon since March this year. had a period for 7 days in the first month, missed the next month and started spotting after. my main problem is the month l missed l had a funny discharge that had a foul smell. it started as a watery dischrge and was thick later. got treated for a uti (used an antibiotic called cypro)and the discharge dissapeared but the spotting continued. now the foul smell has returned while l am spotting. what should l do.

Bleeding or spotting for a few months is a common complain by people who have IUD insertion done. It stops as the body adjusts with the hormonal changes. You are suggested to get Urinalysis done (C/S & R/E) to detect UTI (E.Coli, etc). If you are sexually active you should get STD tests done since you are having recurrent infection. If your urine report shows infection (UTI), you will need antibiotics. If STD tests are positive you will be treated accordingly. Take Alkacitron syrup (20ml with a cup of water twice daily) for relieve. Take care of your hygiene, avoid multiple partners & always go for protective sex. If you are having itching you can apply ointment Neosporin / cotrimoxazole in the area affected. Take food rich in calcium, iron & proteins.
