Hi doctor,i am 5 weeks pregnant, and last week i found pus cells in urine 60-65,then i started drinking alot of water and taking antibiotec "unasyn 375mg" and then checked again after 3 days and its 30-35,do i have to do anything else other than water and antibiotec to get it to the normal range? thank you
You are recieving the correct treatment. Just keep drinking plenty of water and complete the full course of antibiotics to clear the infection. Please avoid sex as any trauma to the urethra can again lead to a flare up of infection.
Recheck urine after 5 days. If the pus cells are still there then do a culture test to see which is the organism and which drug is able to kill it. Then you may take that drug [ after consulting your doctor for safety issues during pregnancy] to eradicate the infection.
Do not worry. These infections are very common during pregnancy and can be taken care of.
