Hello,
With regard to your question, the answer is that probably you have to consult a doctor because the signs and symptoms resulting from the bite are not responding to the treatment you received (doxycycline) and they are lasting in time and getting worse.
Usually, bites occurring at home premises can be caused by various insects (ticks, flea, bedbugs, etc).
Bites by bedbugs are usually harmless but at times things can go a little worse, and in this case, it could be wise to see a doctor.
Meanwhile, you can try to take some anti-
histamine agents, local anti-itching creams or over-the-counter pain relievers to alleviate itching, burning and pain associated with your condition. Ask your pharmacists about which one to take. You can apply also ice to the affected area.
If you doubt that an
allergic reaction is occurring then call a doctor right away.
Again, if all the above actions do not improve your symptoms within a few days, then you have to see a doctor!
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ervin Toçi, General & Family Physician
