Suggest Treatment For A Breast Infection While Breastfeeding

Hello! I am a breastfeeding mother (3 month baby) with a breast infection. In the past I had mastitis and after one month from the treatment the breast is red again in another area. It happened after I massaged the area because it was hard. Now it seems to have a pus developed. What specialist should I see? Thank you.

Hello

If the pus has developed in the area then it is best to get the pus drained and start with proper antibiotics and pain killers after consulting with your gynecologist. Pus drainage is a small day care procedure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal, OBGYN
