Suggest Treatment For A Bruise Behind Lower Teeth Post A Dental Procedure
Had crown lengthening done today with 5 stitches. He said my strong tongue moved and he accidentally drilled a hOle in underside of my tongue. Worse, I have this dark purple pillowy bruise in well behind lower teeth to where tongue starts. So painful. Normal?
I can understand your concern. It seems that when the tongue was hurt, the part behind the lower teeth was also hurt forming a hematoma.
There is nothing to worry about as the hematoma will heal itself in a week to 10 days. As it is painful, you can take analgesics such as Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day for some days and can apply topical Benzocaine gel (Mucopain) over the area for faster healing and relief in pain.
If you are already prescribed medication for pain control after the crown lengthening procedure, you can continue them. I would also advise you to keep follow up appointments with the surgeon to have check on healing of the surgical area and hematoma.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
