Suggest Treatment For A Discolored Hard Lump On Cheek Post Injury

My 19 yr old daughter was in a car accident and developed either an abscess or cellulitis The Er treated her with a shot of antibiotics and a 14 day prescription. She finished the prescription but she still has a dard lump in her cheek and it's dis colored and seems to b causing a crease in her face. Do I take her to a family doctor or a dermatologist?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain hard lump over the cheek that is hard seems to be due to Hematoma formation which occurs due to rupture of blood vessels post injury and spillage of blood into the soft tissues..
At times the Hematoma gets localized and encapsulated and become a hard and firm lump that takes a long time to regress in size..
It doesn't seems to be infection bit looks like Hematoma only..
I would suggest you to do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump atleast 3 to 4 times a day..
You can also give her Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Apply Heparin containing gel as it helps in faster disruption of Hematoma.
In case of it does not show improvement in next 15 days consult a General Physician and get evaluated..
