Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a woman in my 70s. Have just been diagnosed with a heart murmur. Not serious yet. I ve taken b/p meds for 20 yrs . I have also experienced extreme anxiety and depression for as many years being a caregiver for my husband. All these conditions have been controlled by meds. But I feel like things are getting worse as I grow weary and tired. Is this heart murmur serious? What can I do?
Hello. Welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns..
Actually it isnnot possible to say only by a heart murmur that which valves is involved and how severe it is . So, my advice is you should go for proper evaluation by a cardiologist.
My advice to you is -
Go for 2d echo study which will give you confirmatory idea whether the murmur you have is really having significant problem or not. Because not every time murmur is significant. At old age it can be a normal variant also.
So at present you don't need to worry about anything and kindly confirm it with 2d echo as early as possible.
Thank you. Have a nice day..
