My 5yr son was born with a heart murmur took him to a cardiologist and he said not to worry that it was gone earlier this year he had a well child visit and I was told he had a slight heart murmur. What kind of problems can you get by having a heart murmur??
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe heart murmur in a child. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like anemia , hyperthyroidism , holes in the heart or cardiac shunts , heart valve abnormalities , valve calcification or endocarditis . I would suggest you to consult cardiologist for proper examination . Doctor order chest X-ray , ECG , echocardiogram , cardiac catheterization and listens to your heart using a stethoscope during a physical exam. Doctor may prescribed anticoagulants , diuretics , ACE inhibitors , statins or beta blockers . Doctor may also recommend balloon valvuloplasty , annuloplasty , repair or open heart surgery .
