Suggest Treatment For A Lump In The Chest

I have a lump that developed on my chest about two years ago and I ve asked two doctors and they said it could by a cyst, or ingrown hair. They said getting it removed may cause a scar and the scar could be worse then the lump so just to leave it. Well the other day I got bit by a misquto on the lump and it has hurt ever since its almost double it size and very sore if I touch or stretch my arms, I can t even lay in bed certain ways cause if the skin moves it will start hurting. I should also mention I am 6 month pregnant and I m really starting to get concerned with the lump

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In most cases, this is just a swollen lymph node which doesn't require any specific treatment. Also, considering your description this maybe some other benign subcutaneous lesion such as lipoma, fibroma or atheroma and if there are no skin changes such as redness, pus discharge or pain and fever then you should not be worried since it can be easily surgically removed under local anesthesia. Then there are doubts it can be sent to the patohistologic analysis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
