Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What kind of doctor do I see if I have a pea sized lump in the left front of my tongue? Years ago I had a sore or something on my tongue and sterilized a needle with fire to pop it and it has left a small black mark ever since. Recently it became large, pea sized, blackish under the pink in color and painful or tender to touch.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful lump in the tongue which seems a lot going on in your mouth which need proper medical evaluation. The probable causes could be: Foreign body granuloma Benign lump of the muscles Any malignancy Infection in the cut
This can be ascertained only by a clinical examination, FNAC or Excision biopsy. I would advise the excisional biopsy for 2 reasons 1. You get rid of the lump and 2. you get a histo-pathological diagnosis to be certain what the disease is and carry on further treatment if needed.
You should visit oral pathologist once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper prescription and examination.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
