Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A few weeks ago I noticed a lump under my left ear. It doesn't hurt but is still there. I showed my primary doctor & he said it was a swollen lymph node. He said I should go to an ear, nose, throat doctor. I was thinking about going to an urgent care center instead for a faster treatment. Is that a good idea? Is there anything else I can do?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump under the left ear which is mainly due to infection of the ear lobe or due to parotid gland swelling. It could be mastoiditis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take a combination of antibiotics such as Azithromycin 500 mg along with antihistaminics. Do gargles with listerine antiseptic mouth wash. Apply hot fomentation on affected area. Symptoms will resolve in one week. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Once a proper diagnosis have been made, start treatment accordingly. Apply Voltaren gel locally.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
