Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump On The Neck

Hi, I have a lump about the size of the top section of my middle finger (like first knuckle up to nail) I noticed it because my neck is painful and a little stiff so I went to rub it and found this enlargement. It s at the hair line on the left side of the spine. It too is painful to the touch. I don t want to bother the er unless it sounds like an emergency.
