Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump On The Neck

Yesterday, I woke up and had limited motion in my neck I assumed from sleeping wrong. I put one of those heat packs on it yesterday when I came home and again today when I went to work and it basically went away. I noticed that I have a small lump on at the base of my neck in the middle of my shoulder, could it just be an inflamed muscle?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A lump at base of neck in the middle of the shoulder could be due to soft tissue swelling and it needs to be investigated.
A X-ray of the region may be done to ascertain the origin of the swelling.
This can be followed by an aspiration cytology of the swelling so as to know the nature and character of the swelling.
Depending on the findings of X-ray and aspiration cytology, further management can be planned.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for further work.
In case you experience pain at base of neck, anti-inflammatory and pain killers can be used.

Thanks and take care
