Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump On The Uvula

I had viral laryngitis two weeks ago. My voice is much better however my thirst is still site and I now have a large hard lump on my soft palate towards the right of my uvula. It hurts when I swallow. Is there anything you can suggest to soothe this or would you advise to see a doctor?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a painful lump on the uvula with a recent history of having viral pharyngitis can be due to infection leading to either an abscess formation or formation of a granuloma secondary to infection along with inflammation of the uvula leading to Uvulitis..

I would suggest you to consult an Otolarynglogist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can b done..

You can be advised a course of antibioitcs like Augmentin if there is a secondary bacterial infection..
You can also be advised anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and also do warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
You can be advised numbing mouthwash gargles to alleviate pain..
Suck throat lozenges..
Chew a Vitamin C pellet as it will help in boosting immunity..
Take a soft diet to prevent irritation to the area..
