Suggest Treatment For A Polyp In Gall Bladder And Acute Cervicitis

I had MRM for my left breast cancer stage 2B in 2013, chemo for 6 months. Latest tests show, 2 masses in right breast - probably benign. 3 myomas, one is 5 cm, 1 polyp in gall bladder, thickened endometrium 2.34. Had DnC biopsy - acute cervicitis. The obgyne said she needs to do two more tests, cannot remember the names but says it is like endoscopy and will get tissues for biopsy. She is also recommending a simple hysterectomy in lieu of the tests. I am 55 yrs old. What do you think?

Hi,

Obgyn usually try to investigate the nature of the overgrown tissue by taking the biopsy and specially to rule out any chances of carcinoma or precancerous changes specially when there is thickening of the endometrium.

Hysteroscopy is usually done to look into the endometrial tissues through a camera and also to take the sample for biopsy.

Obgyn may like to remove the uterus or part of it (hysterectomy) to be sure if there are suspicious changes in the endometrium specially when one has the history of cancer in the past.

One should ideally go for the recommended investigations and discuss the need of getting hysterectomy done if there is any such advice by the treating obgyn.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Md Eftekhar, General & Family Physician
