Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 10 year old grandson was at pediatrician Saturday and today. He has a ruptured eardrum. Has had 5 doses of antibiotic and now One dose of ear drops. Just had a horrible stabbing pain on arising from a chair. What else can I do to relieve his symptoms
As per your query your son have symptoms of ruptured eardrum which could be due to ear infection, foreign body penetration injury and due to high pitched voices.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep your ear dry and covered while bathing and avoid touching or pricking with any sharp object. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may examine with otoscope or may order blood test CT scan to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics course for at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory medications. Doctor may also recommend patching of eardrum and tympanoplasty.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
