Suggest Treatment For A Spreading Rash From Elbow To Wrist Due To A Jelly Fish Sting

Hi, I have a jelly fish sting that was on the verge of healing. Once it started scabbing and itching I applied a basic topical cream. The next day it was completely inflamed and swollen. It looks like a severe rash, like poison ivy and has even seemed to spread. The original sting started from above my elbow to wrist. Now the rash is from about two inches above the elbow all the way down to my knuckles (left forearm.) What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Rash due to jellyfish from elbow to wrist should be washed properly with water & then with vinegar.

You can apply soframycin cream for relieve. Apply hydrocortisone cream if you don't get relieve.

To reduce discomfort due to inflammation & burning you can take orally nonsedating antihistamines.

If you are still having discomfort, visit ER. You may need intravenous medical support for relieve.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
