Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was bit by a tick 10 days ago on my back. I believe it was only on there for a day. I got the tick off but the area became infected. It was very painful. I had just taken 7 days of antibiotics for Bronchitis. Off them for a week then was prescribed another 7 days because my bronchitis hadn t went away. So it was three days after the bite I took the other 7 days of antibiotic. My rheumatologist I see for other reasons said the antibiotics should take care of it. The antibiotics have been gone for 4 days now and it looks like the infection is coming back. Should I see my regular doctor?
As there are due course of antibiotics taken for bronchitis and the tick bite over back is not resolved means that the responsible bacteria is not susceptible or is resistant to prescribed antibiotic.
You have to get a new class of antibiotic as Clindamycin, Doxycycline or else for faster recovery from tick bite agony with supportive medicines as anti histamine, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and multivitamins.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
