Suggest Treatment For A Very Sore Random Itchy Rash

Hello, I was diagnosed with scabies back in November of 2014, used Permethrin cream, washed bedding and clothing on high heat, vacuumed every day and bagged everything else I could. I thought I was cured but I suspect I still might have it. Every couple days or so, I get a random itchy rash and sometimes curved or straight red lines which seem to be raised up and a bit sore. Putting rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer on them seems to clear them up in a matter of an hour to a couple days. I have photos available if needed for a proper evaluation. I have not spread this to anyone at home or elsewhere to my knowledge. I d really appreciate knowing what exactly is causing this, thanks!

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Itchy rash can develop from scabies, insect bite reaction or atopic dermatitis. Seeing the picture will help to some extent. In scabies, usually itching is distributed over flexural areas like groin, elbow, axilla or around umbilicus. Also, itching will be more at evening and night. Other family members, especially spouse and kids can be affected.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
