Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had ultrasound last year said I had 3cm abdominal lipoma. GP and watch and monitor. Year later it s is triple the size firm and long across 5 ribs. I just had it removed today. It is over 10cm looks like chicken breast with lots of pieces attached. ... I think. They are sending to pathology but can this be liposarcoma?
hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concern. I am a practicing anaesthesiologist and pain consultant. Lipomas and liposarcomas are both tumors that form from fat cells, while lipomas are comprised of benign soft tissue, liposarcomas are cancerous tumors. Lipomas are generally superficial while liposarcomas grows in deeper tissues. As you have undergone surgery for tumor removal, we have to wait for pathology reports. If it was painless, soft, then very unlikely that it will be a cancerous tumor. Don't worry.
