Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain, Cramps And Lack Of Appetite

I have had RLQ and pain for the past 24 hours, intermittent and crampy. Also had nausea, decreased appetite. Very gassy and bloated. Vaguely, wasn t feeling well for three days, now the discomfort is obvious, but not terrible. Ovarian cyst? Appendicitis? I am leaving town tomorrow to go to remote part of state. Any thoughts on the possibility of this going south while I am away on vacation.?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain in the Right lower Quadrant can be due appendicitis mainly. It can also be associated with continuous or intermittent pain and it can be a dull ache or sharp shooting pain and associated with vomiting.

Ovarian Cyst also can give pain in the lower abdomen and have similar symptoms.

It would be best for you to put your travel on hold since its a remote place. If its appendicitis and pain shoot up and you cannot find a specialized hospital it would be difficult to manage.

You will have to get an abdominal scan done to diagnose the condition and also meet a surgeon as soon as possible if needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Srija. J, General & Family Physician
