Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I wish I could ask some questions, such as:
-how long has your granddaughter been ill?
-where in her belly is the pain?
-fever?
-has she had prior illness with abdominal pain?
-exposure to others who are ill?
-does she take any medicines on a regular basis?
There are many possible causes for a child to have abdominal pain,
nausea, and
vomiting. Let me mention some and I hope this will assist you.
-Gastritis(inflammation of stomach) due to virus or bacteria
-
Peptic ulcer pain, usually has no relation to meals, may be relieved by milk or vomiting
-
Appendicitis, not likely because the course of illness is too long
-Renal stone, intestinal cyst, or
intestinal polyp. I assume the
ultrasound would have found evidence.
-Pancreatitis(inflammation of
pancreas) eating fatty foods causes pain.
-Problems of the female reproductive tract. It may take a while to sort through these possibilities. Additional tests and studies may have to be done. Unless you are referred to a subspecialist, it might be better to stay with the same physician who will have the advantage of access to all of her lab results and who could have examined her on more than one occasion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
