Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain Post An Inguinal Hernia Repair Surgery

I had an inguinal hernia repair on Feb. 1st. All seemed to be progressing normally, until this week when the pain has returned with vengeance and I now have back pain as well. I have an appt. with my PCP on Mar. 3rd, but am not sure that I can/should wait that long. Should I contact the surgeon s office on Monday morning?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, the recovered post-surgery period showing
abdominal pain and back ache has different causative factor as gastric
upset, indigestion or else.
You can wait till PCP meeting.
Primary care with proton pump inhibitor, Tylenol and dietary measures to
keep stools soft will support best.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
