Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain When Having Cyst In Ovary
Hi, Last month my wife was diagnosed having 2 cysts in her left ovary. Today she was feeling a lot of pain on left side of her abdomen. She had an ultrasound and they suspected a ectopic pregnancy but they were not sure. The ultrasound report was pretty much the same as previous month s report with a minor difference that the size of both cysts has reduced. 3 days earlier from today, she had this vomiting like feeling, pain in abdomen and loose motions.Few hours from now, her normal menstruation cycle started which was due today. Can this be ectopic pregnancy?
Abdominal pain may not be related to the ovarian cysts as they reduced in size as per ultrasound imaging. Pain abdomen, nausea and diarrhea may be seen in the following conditions: 1) Ectopic pregnancy 2) Appendicitis 3) Salpingitis 4) Ruptured corpus luteum cyst or ovarian follicle 5) Spontaneous abortion or threatened abortion 6) Ovarian torsion 7) Urinary tract disease 8) Acute gastroenteritis 9) Food poisoning
Few additional tests are required to confirm ectopic pregnancy like beta HCG test and transvaginal ultrasonography and serum progesterone levels. Please do consult a gynecologist and discuss the above mentioned possibilities.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
