Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain While Having Gallstones
I have recently been diagnosed with gallstones my doctor says I should eat a non fat diet and loose weight. I have since January 2016 joined a slimming group and have lost 2 1/2 stone already and follow a non fat diet. My problem is that I get really bad pains in my stomach and right hand side above my and beyounf my ribs even when I haven t eaten anything
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. What pain you are describing to be experiencing on the right side of your abdomen is due to spasmodic contractions of the gall bladder due to presence of gall stones. You can get relieved by such pain by taking analgesics and anti-spasmodics. However, you need to do a proper follow-up with ultrasound scan periodically to know about the status of the stones in the gall bladder. It would be appropriate to get them removed by means of endoscopic surgery, so that you wouldn't have such problems in future. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
