Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Tuberculosis

Hey there, I am 23 years old and have been a patient of abdominal tuberculosis. The medication was streached till 13 months. Initially i had a around 800 ml of free fluid in my peritoneal cavity and after 7-8 months of medication it came down to around 150 cc. However after 3 months, the fluid was found to have increased to around 400 cc. The doctors stopped the ATT as i was completely fine, having a good appetite and my weight also increased. They wrote for testing my menstrual blood for PCR and AFB and the reports were normal. Nothing was detected. They doubted that it might be PID (i am unmarried and have never undergone any sexual intercourse). They advised to take medication for that too. i took all the medicines however i still feel sharp pain in my lower abdomen and back ache (right side) and that causes difficulty in walking. Please take note that i also had hemorrhagic cyst in my right ovary and a fouly and curdy whitish discharge which eventually after taking the medicines became normal. I still have white discharge but that doesnt smells fouly. Also my menstrual cycle is normal. its just the pain which makes me panic. Else everything is normal. i have a very hectic schedule still i do not feel fatigue or have any fever or anything. Could it be the side effect of taking such aggressive medicines for 13 long months??? Please let me know asap. I shall be grateful. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

ATT can make you fatigue but the effect will go off on its own as you stop the medication. You also took medicine for PID and the cause is ruled out too. Here are the few things you should know about it.
1) You should rule out any fluid in the abdomen which can cause pain.
2) Hemorrhagic ovarian cyst itself can cause pain. Though mostly it is asymptomatic it does cause pain at times.
3) Pain could be from some other gastrointestinal causes like a peptic ulcer.
4) For a patient similar to your history I would suggest taking Hyoscine for pain relief and an ultrasound scan of abdomen and pelvis may be needed for further evaluation.
5) Give hot compress in the site of pain.
6) Have soft bland diet.

I strongly suggest you get it evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
