Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Accumulation of fluid in abdomen due to liver dysfunction is called 'ascitis'. It has to be drained under aseptic precautions by a procedure called 'peritoneal tap' or 'ascitic tap'. The procedure cannot be done at home as it is little risky in going in for hypotension (low blood pressure) and infection. Hence you need to get admitted and needs to be removed in hospital itself. It all depends on the pace at which there accumulation of fluids once it is removed to decide when next again this procedure needs to be performed. If there is proper assisted treatment, then it may not accumulate so quickly. Hope the information provided would be useful for you. Wish you all the best.
