I had a tear on my achilles tendon 10 yrs ago that healed by itself with some scar tissue.. in the last few months, a lump has appeared on the old tear & aches regularly, not really stopping me from doung stuff but makes me aware of it.. In the last few weeks Ive noticed further up my achilles there is now an indent & is tender to touch.. are these related you think, & what is my best course of action..?

Hi dear...You seem to be in pain now...Get an X ray done. If there is no tear or thickening or muscle/ soft tissue swelling. Then its just that the scarred achilles tendon has lost its elasticity/ tensile strength and its the pain due to stretch that is causing the tenderness.... Tab.brufen twice during pains and at other times, you can wrap a crepe bandage (stretchable) in afigure of 8 around the aching site. If possible it would help to give the foot a little rest by feet off method, placing it at a little height just to give rest to foot. Hope this answers your query But do not hesitate to see an orthopaedician in case the pain is unbearable, then it might need invasive treatment.take care
