Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a Nissen fundoplication surgery 15 months ago. It worked perfectly to control my acid reflux until three months ago. At that time I started noticing some differences in swallowing and burping (much easier) and the reflux symtoms returned. The surgeon is no longer with the medical center that I went to. Is it acceptable to try to track the doctor down at his new hospital and ask what he recommends to do about the failed surgery? I got an upper GL endoscopy and the GI who did the test noted that the wrap looked loose. A second question: if a wrap came loose and the surgeon determines that the patient is a good candidate to try the procedure again would it need to be done with a tighter wrap the second time?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have acid reflux since 15 months. Well acid reflux is very common problem. It seems to be due to release of esophageal sphincter and excessive production of acid by stomach. Need not to worry. Treatment of acid reflux depend upon taking medicine and alteration in lifestyle. You should take plenty of fluids. I would suggest you to avoid spicy and heavy meal specially at night. Eat at least one hour before going to bed, take a light walk for 15-20 mins after every meal , take antacid after every meal like gelusil. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and start treatment after complete prescription. Avoid taking outside food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
