Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear sir I have gas problem in my stomach since 20 days. I took the cimetidine medician recently but no relief yet. Before I had acidity and burning sensation in my stomach but no pain.now I have no acidity after having cimetidine tablet but gas is still there without pain and diarhia. And I have no constipation.my age is 22 years and I have lost my weight of about 2kg in last 30 days Please advice
You may try Omeprazole 40 mg 30 minutes before breakfast as it is more effective than cimetidine in helping with stomach symptoms. You should also avoid big meals so you need to have frequent small meals and avoid eating or drinking 4 hours before bedtime. You can also raise the bed head with bricks and make sure you avoid coffee, cigarettes and alcohol as these make reflux worse.
If you notice no improvement with the above or if you notice any worsening please see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
