Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello! I am a 20 year old lady. I ve been having acne since 4 years back now. I d tried many treatments before. But,Finally now doctor suggested me Tretiva-25mg,which I started from yesterday. I wanted to clarify while under medications, what kind of soap, face wash and shampoo should I use,as the doctor suggested me not to use any of them and I don t think I would be able to stay without using any of them for the next 6 months!
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Tretiva contains Isotretinoin that is a retinoid and it is given to reduce acne.. But along with it you can also use certain topical ointments and facewash as it will help in reducing acne.. You might be advised to avoid using any other creams or facewash as it causes dryness of skin and certain chemical containing skin cosmetics can cause further irritation of skin.. I would suggest you to apply benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin ointment over the pimples.. To lubricate the skin you can use aloevera gel.. Apply Vitamin E gel or cream.. You can use a mild shampoo over the scalp.. Avoid any high chemical cosmetics and in case if you have any side effect while taking Isotretinoin consult your treating Dermatologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
