Suggest Treatment For Acne

Hi, I am 21 years old and am trying to get rid of my acne. I have had some success by incorporating many more vegetables and fruit into my diet, as well as using apple cider vinegar as a face toner and coconut oil as a moisturiser. When i was younger I never had acne, but I did have small itchy red rash around my nose. I never knew what it was and it didn t bother me and eventually, without my noticing really it went away. However now it has come back but it is only one one side of my nose (around my nostril) and is much bigger- it extends out further. I believe it has something to do with my body healing itself and reversing the symptoms that led to my adult acne? because my acne has improved. I am just wondering if this is something to be worried about, whether you think it s something different? like an allergy of some sort? Or whether this is just a healing phase or healing crisis and to let it run it s course if it has one? Thanks, much appreciated, Cassandra

Hello,

Thank you for your question.
Acne is the medical term for pimples. Pimples happen when pores get clogged with dead skin and oil, and bacteria build up. Then skin gets inflamed and can turn red or swell.

You can take care your acne by wash your face no more than twic a day. Use warm no hot water and do not use harsh soaps. Instead, use a gentle non soap facial skin cleanser. Do not scrub your face, because that can make acne worse and damage the skin. Do not pick or squeeze pimples. This can make acne worse and damage the skin. Plus it can lead to infections. Avoid oil-based make up and skin products. They can make acne worse. If you use a moisturizer for your face, a moisturizer labeled as non-comedogenic is often best.

Doctors can treat acne using different types of medicines. Sometimes doctors suggest trying more than 1 medicine at once. There is no 1 medicine or combination of medicines that works best for everyone. Instead, people often need to try different medicines until they find what works best for them.

Most acne medicines require a prescription. Your doctor might suggest medicine you put directly on your skin. These can be gel creams, or lotion. There are different types such as Retinoids, Salicylic acid and glycolic acid, antibiotics.
Medicines you need to take as a pill include: antibiotics, birth control pills, Isotretinoin pills. The treatment is depend on your acne condition. Your doctor need to see and decide.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards,
