I have had mild acne for years. I am 20 years old and I have tried many different solutions. I have been on proactiv, neutrogena, clearasil, and various other otc products. I have also been prescribed on solodyn, minocycline, doxycycline, Retin-A, and other products. Can you recommend an otc regimen that might help clear my face up (I cannot make it to my dermatologist as I am away for school)
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain as you are twenty years old this age group is most prone to acne as teens and early twenties have a lot of hormonal changes and it leads to eruptions of acne.. You can wash your face with salicylic acid and glycolic acid containing facewash.. You can apply Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide containing ointments.. Do cool compresses over the pimples.. You can also continue retinoid containing ointment like Isotretinoin or Adapelene and Retin-A can be continued as it contains Tretinoin.. Scrub your face with a gentle scrub twice a week.. Take multivitamin supplements, avoid oily food and sun exposure.. Drink plenty of water.. You can also go for microdermabrasion and chemical acid peels..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
