Suggest Treatment For Acute Bronchitis While On Azithromycin
I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis yesterday and my doctor prescribed Azithromycin, 500 mg, one tablet by mouth for seven days. I started the medication yesterday and took my second dose this morning. My question is approximately how long will it take before I see some relief from my bronchitis? My cough/mucous is making it hard to catch my breath sometimes.
Understanding your concern. As per you have symptoms of acute bronchitis while on Azithromycin which is mainly because of lower respiratory tract infection and it is due to poor immunity of body. Allergic reaction can also be one of the reason for symptoms.
Need not to worry. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. If cough is exaggerating go for blood and sputum test. You should take Azithromycin for 3-5 days. You can start with nebulization for keep continuing it for few days, make sure it will not become a habit. Avoid intake of outside food. Take proper rest without any discomfort.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
