Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Pain in lower left side. It started yesterday, then went away. Pain has been increasing again in the past 2 hours. My MD is 1 hour away, so I don t know if I need to make the trip to see her or not. I have had previous symptoms many years ago and was diagnosed with acute diverticulitis.
The symptoms can be related to diverticulitis. An abdominal ultrasound is needed to confirm the diagnosis. If the diagnosis is confirmed the treatment consists of antibiotics to treat the infection. So, I recommend seeing your doctor for the prescription.
Meanwhile,I suggest using spasmolytic such as Buscopan 10 mg to relieve the pain. I recommend to eat a liquid diet and drink liquids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
