Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I feel as though I have ADD and have a hard time focusing at work. Many of the therapists in my area are way too expensive, however my ADD is starting to negatively affect my work progress. I find myself starting one project, jumping to another and then end up with 3 unfinished work projects that I need finished. What do you recommend as a treatment? My first doctor said Adderall was the best option and wanted to hold off, but at this point it seems like the best and only viable option.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Adult ADD is a common condition that results in loss of concentration and focus. It hampers in studies and work. But in adults before making diagnosis other conditions like anxiety, depression should be ruled out first. Depression might cause lack of focus and thus results in similar symptoms. Visit a psychiatrist for evaluation.
Yes if the conditions comes out to be ADD then Adderall can help. The drug helps to improve the concentration and focus. But the drug is a controlled substance and should be taken under proper prescription only.
Thanks, Take care
