Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have type 2 diabetes and have not eaten today at all.. after fasting all night my blood sugar level was 387 then I ate and checked again and it had gone down to 309. I had a fall and hit my neck and ribs but nothing is broken.. my blood sugar with pills is usually around 114. what is going on?
This reading would be influenced by what you would have eaten yesterday evening and your meds.
If the meal in the evening contained a high amount of carbohydrates then it would cause a high fasting blood sugar.
These levels are very high, you need to monitor it throughout the day to see if it is increasing or decreasing.. You may want to note the carbohydrate content of your meals so that you would be able to identify which foods are associated with higher blood sugars.
If , the levels remain elevated beyond today, then you should speak to your doctor.
I hope this helps
