General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Severe allergy leads to immense itching, followed by swelling, inflammation and redness. You have given anti allergic medication, which has given relief for permanent relief, the causative factor must be identified and avoided.
(It can be material of clothing, any oil, talcum powder used, or any newly started medication). Excessive swelling may need steroids (local or oral) with antibiotic as per indication. For these detailed local examination and advise by a skin specialist is indicated. Please consult one.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
