Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 18 month old is allergic to dogs (she got tested in Jaunary) & my husband wants to get a bulldog. When she's around his father's dog (pitt bull) she breaks out & turns red & itches alot. (She also has eczema) I was wondering if their are any type of allergy shots she can get or anything that would reduce her reaction. I'm against getting a dog, but I just want to make my husband happy & ask.
Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. You can do either a skin test or a blood test that will detect allergen-specific iGe (Immunoglobulin E) to find out if you have dog allergies.
Allergy shots that target specific allergens may be a good option if your child has symptoms even after you've removed the offending pet and tried medications.
Even after taking an appropriate allergy medicine, if the symptoms persist, see an allergist.
