Suggest Treatment For Alopecia Areata

I have been taking Arimidex (Anastrazole) for 3 1/2 years. During this time I have developed alopecia not only on my head/eyebrowa but I have lost arm and leg hair. I consulted with a dermatologist who suggested Rogaine and Lattice. Use of these products have not stimulated hair growth. I have also been taking 10,000 mcg. of Biotin daily. Is the any other treatments you can suggest to alleviate this problem? Thank you. Dawn Wrinn

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Alopecia areata can’t be cured. But it can be treated and hair can grow back.

The treatment may consist of corticosteroids.

They can be given as an injection into the scalp or other areas.

They can also be given in prescription as an ointment.

I recommend consulting your doctor for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
