Normal binocular vision (depth perception, stereopsis ) develops by 6-8 yrs of age. Hence it is very important to detect and treat amblyopia in this period for complete/significant recover.
Well trial of treatment at this age might show uncertain improvement, but its still worth trying. First, power of your both eyes should be corrected completely and patching good eye (Rt eye in you) for time depending on thickness of your amblyopia 2-6 hrs.
Proper timing of patching will not affect good eye.
Improvement might be minimal and not clear vision completely, but will improve your 3D image.
Regards
