Suggest Treatment For An Enlarged Spleen Post Broken Ribs, Cheekbone And Pneumothorax
Hello, On the 29th of december I had a nasty fall 300 meters off a mountain in France, slid on ice and slipped all the way down and burned my face. I had 3 broken ribs, a broken cheekbone and pneumothorax. Now I have a enlarged spleen and the Dr told me to do an chest xray and some blood test, and HIV test. I was tested negative with HIV test before I left and was negative and no sexual relation since then. Should I be worried?
It should be fine. If you were previously negative and the first test was done past the window period of that particular test , then it is a true result.
The window period of a test is the time from infection to when a test can reliably determine if an infection is present. For example if a window period is 1 month, this means that after 1 month, this test would give a true and accurate picture.
There are different types of HIV tests and the window period can vary from 2 weeks to 3 months depending on the test chosen.
If the test was done after the window period, it would have reliably shown that you are not HIV positive.
I hope this helps
