Suggest Treatment For An External Hemorrhoid

I just started healing from my first herpes outbreak and have been constipated due to the valtrex. I now have an external hemorrhoid because I ve been constipated. My period is usually on time because I take my birth control regularly but because of the OB I wasn t taking it. I have been under a lot of stress and was wondering what could be the cause of my period being late. Also, I would love to know how to easily get rid of the hemorrhoid because it is very itchy and painful. The constipation is making my lower right abdomen hurt and I don t know what to do about it. If you have any suggestions that I can manage to do at home that would be amazing! Thank you for your time!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The external hemorrhoids are secondary to compression of anal tissue by hard stools. Irregular menses is sequence of stress induced hormone imbalance. Do follow below recommendations for best possible outcome:
- Drink more liquids
- Consume high fiber diet as green leafy veg, organic fresh fruits
- Prefer cereals, pulses, legumes
- Avoid all spices, non veg, junk food, dairy fat
- Sitz bath (sitting in a tub filled with lukewarm water) 3-4 times a day 5 minutes each, particularly after passing stool
- Local application of xylocaine (5%) jelly over anal region
- Bulk forming laxatives as ispaghula husk 3-4 tea spoonful at night with a glass of drinking lukewarm water
- Consult an OBGY for menstrual disturbances and hormone therapy and induce menstruation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
