Suggest Treatment For An Injury Caused During An Injection?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... i was recently in the er and the nurse inserted an iv into my left wrist. she left the room and I started bleeding profusely from the iv. I had to wrap a blanket around my iv because there was blood everywhere. It was a painful insert. Within two days I had bruising up my arm following the vein and went back to the same er and they said I had a burst vein and hospital acquired infection. This time an experienced nurse did my iv and they put antibiotics in the iv to stop the infection which was rapidly spreading up my arm and down my fingers. Is this something that just happens or did the nurse do a hack job on me? I am asking because I am thinking of asking the hospital to allow me to not pay for the visits since they injured me. Thanks
Respected user, hi I evaluated your query thoroughly. Sorry to hear about your issue. *Profuse bleeding immediately after IV as per your narration is definately in relation to intracath insertion only . *Now I was not evidence of the scenerio , was that a human error or negligence of nursing staff doesn`t come in my comments , you are the best judge for that matter. Hope this clears your doubts. Thanks for using Health care magic & keeping trust in our medical services Wishing you happy healthy life ahead so that you don`t have to visit ER Regards dear take care.
