Suggest Treatment For Anal Fissures And Hemorrhoids

I use to bleed from the anal part, blood was sometimes light red sometimes darker with those really small blood balls. I went to the doctor and i found out that i actually have anal fissures and also hemorroids. That was 3 mounths ago. But know it s been 3 days whenmy poop became a little bit sticky with some black specks. Is it due to the hemorroids or something?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Stool that is black and sticky (sometimes described as “tarry”) is concerning for something called melena, which is from blood in your GI tract that has been digested and turns a black color. In order for the blood to be digested like this, it has to be farther up in your gastrointestinal tract, usually in the stomach. so I would be concerned about a possible stomach ulcer that is bleeding and causing these changes in your stool. This would not be related to your anal fissure and hemorrhoids, so I would suspect that is unrelated.

I would recommend getting your blood checked to see if there is any evidence of blood loss, as well as getting a hemoccult tested on your stool to see if there is any blood in it. If those tests show any evidence of a GI bleed, or if you have any symptoms such as abdominal pain, an EGD would likely need to be done to determine whether you have a bleeding ulcer or other cause of bleeding or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
