Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had anal fissures, so I had to have a fissurectomy and a sphincterotomy surgery. It has been 4 months since I had the surgery and although the fissures seem to be better, I am still bleeding when I have a bowel movement. Not every time, but most everytime. It is bright red blood. It is still painful after a bowel movement also. I am scared. I have talked to my surgeon and he says all this is normal? What is your opinion?
Welcome to HCM. I would suggest you to modify your diet with more fibre and consume enough water. The recurrence could be related to intake of certain foods and consuming less water. Regular Sitz bath(atleast twice a day) will help the healing process. When your symptoms are bothering you the most try taking a bland diet and a lot of plain yogurt which is a natural probiotic for a week. Avoid white bread go for a multigrain one. The primary point is not to strain and make your stool soft. Continue OTC stool softener and medicated wet wipes as per need .
My answer may sound more general but believe it or not it works. Hope you get well soon. Take care.
